ChatGPT MCP app
Add blogr to ChatGPT as a developer mode app. Ask how your articles rank, review what is scheduled, approve titles and edit drafts without leaving the chat.
How it works
ChatGPT can call outside apps through MCP, the same open standard Claude uses. blogr runs an MCP server, so you add it to ChatGPT once as an app and then talk to your content plan in plain words: how did last month go, which titles are waiting, what should I write next.
ChatGPT acts as you, with your team role on each website. It sees the websites you see in blogr and can change only what your role allows. Reading is instant. Before any change, ChatGPT shows you what it is about to send and waits for you to confirm.
What you need
- A blogr account. Each website's data is available while its owner has an active plan or trial.
- ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu, on chatgpt.com. Custom apps run in developer mode, which is web only for now.
- On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin may need to allow developer mode first.
Connect ChatGPT
First turn on developer mode:
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Security and login.
- Turn on Developer mode.
Then add blogr as an app:
- Open Plugins and select the plus button to create an app.
- Name it blogr and paste this MCP server URL:
https://blogr.ai/mcp
- Choose OAuth as the authentication. ChatGPT registers itself with blogr, so you do not need a client ID or secret.
- Create the app. ChatGPT opens blogr, where you sign in and choose Allow access.
- In a new chat, open the Developer mode tool in the composer, pick blogr, and ask something like "How did my blog do this month?"
OpenAI renames these menus from time to time. If a label looks different, the steps are the same: turn on developer mode, create an app, give it the URL above, sign in with OAuth.
Things to ask ChatGPT
- "Give me a one-paragraph status of my blog: what went live, what is next, what failed."
- "Which queries am I on page two for? Show them as a table with clicks and position."
- "Read the titles waiting for approval and approve the five closest to what my customers search for."
- "Move next Monday's article to Thursday."
- "Open my newest draft and tighten the introduction to three sentences."
- "Compare this month's Search Console numbers with last month and tell me what changed."
What ChatGPT can do
ChatGPT reads without asking. Every tool that changes something is marked as a write, so ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it runs.
| Tool | What it does | Changes data |
|---|---|---|
| list_websites | Your websites, your role on each, and whether each has a plan, a topical map and Search Console. | No |
| get_website_overview | Article counts by status, what is scheduled next, failures, map coverage and the monthly allowance left. | No |
| list_articles | Articles by status, with dates and live links. | No |
| get_article | One article in full: the Markdown body, SEO title, meta description, categories and tags. | No |
| get_topical_map | The map by silo, then each page with its query, search volume, difficulty and current rank. | No |
| get_performance | Search Console clicks, impressions, CTR and position for 7, 28 or 90 days, with top queries and pages. | No |
| get_article_impact | How recent articles are moving in Google week over week. | No |
| list_opportunities | The SEO opportunities blogr found in your Search Console data. | No |
| get_usage | Your plan and this month's article allowance. | No |
| approve_titles | Approves titles onto your publishing schedule, one per slot, the same as the approval tray. | Yes |
| decline_titles | Declines titles that are not written yet. You can approve them again later. | Yes |
| add_article_idea | Adds your own title on the next open slot, like Add title in the app. | Yes |
| reschedule_article | Moves a scheduled article to another day and pins it there. | Yes |
| update_article | Renames a title, or edits a written draft's title, body, SEO fields, categories and tags. | Yes |
What ChatGPT cannot do
- Publish, delete or archive articles. Publishing stays in blogr, so nothing reaches your live site from ChatGPT.
- Start writing an article early. Approved titles are written on their scheduled day, within your monthly allowance.
- See or change billing, website settings, team members, or your publishing connection and its tokens.
An edit to a published article is saved in blogr. The live page changes the next time you publish that article from blogr.
Team roles
ChatGPT follows your role on each website. Viewers can read everything they see in the app, and ChatGPT cannot change anything for them. Editors and admins can approve, decline, add, reschedule and edit through ChatGPT. Owners can do all of it.
Limits
- 120 requests per minute per account, across every assistant you connect.
- 200 changes per account per hour.
- 25 titles added through an assistant per website per day.
Past a limit, ChatGPT gets a message saying so and can try again later. Nothing you do in the app counts toward these limits.
Your data
- ChatGPT receives only what you ask for: your websites, articles, topical map, Search Console performance and opportunities.
- blogr never sees your ChatGPT conversations. For each request it records which tool ran, on which website, whether it worked and how long it took, and deletes that record after 90 days.
- ChatGPT signs in with its own access token, which never includes your password. To disconnect, delete the blogr app in ChatGPT's Plugins settings.
Once ChatGPT receives data from blogr, OpenAI handles it under its privacy policy. Read blogr's own privacy policy for what we store.
Troubleshooting
- You cannot find Developer mode: it is not offered on the Free plan, and workspace admins can switch it off. Check your plan, or ask your admin.
- ChatGPT does not call blogr: select blogr in the composer's Developer mode tool first, or name it in your message ("Using blogr, ...").
- "blogr needs an active plan or trial": start a plan or trial on the account that owns the website.
- "Your role does not allow this": ask the website owner to give you the Editor or Admin role.
- ChatGPT asks you to sign in again: your connection expired after 90 days without use. Reconnect the app.
Questions
Can I use blogr in ChatGPT?
Yes. Add blogr's MCP server (https://blogr.ai/mcp) as an app in ChatGPT developer mode, sign in to blogr, and ChatGPT can read your articles, topical map and Search Console data and manage your content plan.
Which ChatGPT plans support the blogr app?
Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, on chatgpt.com. Custom MCP apps need developer mode, which the Free plan does not include.
Is it safe to let ChatGPT change my content plan?
ChatGPT asks you to confirm every change before it runs, it can change only what your team role allows, and it cannot publish, delete or archive anything.
Is there a blogr app in the ChatGPT app directory?
Not yet. For now you add blogr yourself in developer mode, which takes about a minute.
